School to Adult Life: Getting From Here to There

This workshop is scheduled for the fall, 2009 and repeated in the spring, 2010 and represents a one-day training in which participants MAY request follow-up technical assistance specifically in the form of person-centered planning.  The workshop focuses on the understanding, planning and facilitating of an effective transition plan using person-centered–planning. Transition planning is required and critical for every student with deafblindness, ages 14-21. Understanding laws, identifying assessment tools and recognizing effective instructional strategies are essential in assuring positive and productive outcomes.

Please note:   If requested, participants will receive Technical Assistance for individual student planning. 

Participants will demonstrate the following outcomes and indicators of performance regarding their understanding planning the transition from school to adult life and the associated educational program components necessary to promote this movement:

  • Gain knowledge and skills in state and federal laws and protocols that guide transition services
  • Gain knowledge and skills in utilizing Person Center Planning tools to increase and improve students’ academic, social, vocation and personal living skills.
