Best Practices in the Education of Students with Deafblindness who present additional disabilities (Program Planning Clinic)

This training will address educational considerations and instructional strategies to enhance and improve the quality and outcomes of IEPs for school – age students. This will be an overview of evidence-based or known practices that foster progress in school-based programming for students with deaflbind that present additional disabilities. A template for assessment of school programs will be provided. In addition, follow – up technical assistance can be provided through an arranged PROGRAM PLANNING CLINIC.
Participants will demonstrate the following outcomes and indicators of performance regarding their understanding of the best practices in the education of students with deaflbindness who present additional disabilities::
- Develop knowledge and skills in assessment and goal development for IEP/IFSP planning.
- Develop knowledge and skills in the identification and implementation of appropriate supports and accommodations.
- Develop knowledge and skills in evidence-based practices, including strategies for systematic instruction, data collection, behavioral support, literacy, and communication.
- Participants may request an personalized Program Planning Clinic for the development of specific students program.
