Message from the Project Director

Welcome to NJCDB,

The New Jersey Consortium on Deafblindness is a newly created community of family members, professionals and others interested in promoting quality education for our children and youth who are deafblind. I am pleased that you have taken notice of our website and invite you to join our community by registering with us. Registration is free and provides you with access to valuable resources including videos, training materials, research articles, and the opportunity to chat with others regarding deafblindness. This website will serve as the primary avenue for dissemination of information and ongoing communication about deafblindness in New Jersey.

NJCDB has established a Statewide Community of Practice and Support (CoPS) to address the unique educational needs of students who are deafblind. Participation within this CoPS provides a menu of professional development services that include technical assistance to individual students and families; statewide trainings, as well as information and resources. NJCDB website allows its CoPS members to join one or all of five cohort groups that reflect specific interests. These include Family, Early Childhood, School-Age Children, Transition to Adulthood, and Schools and Programs for the Deaf. These individual groups focus on current issues and practices related to their unique needs.

This website is designed to meet the wide range of your needs and will continue to evolve with your support and participation. It is my hope that NJCDB will provide you with the information and resources necessary to better serve New Jersey’s students who are deafblind. Come and help us create an active and visible community.

Sincerely,

Jerry G. Petroff, PhD

NJCDB Project Director
